Lepicol has been developed to help keep the bowels healthy in a totally natural way. In order to achieve this, Lepicol have included 3 vital ingredients in its formulation.
These are:
Psyllium husks
Husks which come from the cleansing plantain psyllium provide the extra fibre that so many people need. Psyllium Husk is a water retentive fibre which will give bulk to stools by absorbing water. This gives the bowel wall something to work on and lets it push matter through smoothly and quickly, which helps your body work more efficiently. Water retentive fibre also stimulates natural bacteria in the bowel. Traditionally most fibre in our diet comes from wheat bran but for sensitive cell walls, it can cause irritation and sometime make matters worse. For this reason, Lepicol uses Psyllium Husks as the main source of fibre. They not only absorb many times their own weight in fluid but, more importantly, when water is added to psyllium husks, a soft gel is formed, so unwanted matter can move through the colon smoothly, with no straining or discomfort. This process, over a period of time can remove unwanted, impacted waste from the walls of the colon. As it is not abrasive, psyllium is ideal for sensitive cell walls. The psyllium used in Lepicol is 98% pure, the highest grade available.
Healthy heart?
Research has now shown that Psyllium husks along with a low cholesterol diet, can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
Fructo - Oligosaccharides (prebiotics)
This ingredient is naturally occurring and is found in vegetables such as artichokes, asparagus, salsify, leeks, onions and garlic. It is also found in large amounts in chicory roots, from which it is mainly extracted. Using a supplement like Lepicol is the only way to guarantee dietary amounts are increased to effective levels. The Fructo-Oligosaccharides used in Lepicol are 100% vegetable.
Bifidus stimulation
Several studies in the USA and Japan have shown how Fructo-Oligosaccharides added to the diet improve intestinal flora, enhance the Lactobacillus Bifidobacteria population and suppress the production of intestinal putrefactive substances.
Cholesterol
On-going research has also indicated that moderate amounts of Fructo-Oligosaccharides have a beneficial effect on levels of cholesterol.
Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria (probiotics)
The Bugs That Help Your Body. Health food advocates have long recommended using beneficial bacteria ( probiotics) to help maintain a favourable balance of friendly bacteria. It is now being recognised by the scientific world as well. We all have 'good' and 'bad' bacteria continually competing with each other and ideally a favourable balance is reached. The balance can be upset by a large intake of 'unfriendly' bacteria. In fact, even the stresses and strains of modern life can lead to an imbalance of bacteria in the gut. If this imbalance isn't corrected, many common bowel ailments can result. Many also believe that yeast infections can result from this imbalance.
Synbiotic effect
Studies have also confirmed that Lactobacillus Bacteria and FOS are even more effective when taken together. This is known as the Synbiotic effect.
Antibiotics
Lepicol's probiotic content makes it suitable for use alongside and following a course of antibiotics.
Not digested
All ingredients used in Lepicol are classified as foods. For this reason, Lepicol is known as a 'benign' formula. None of the ingredients is absorbed by the body (they stay in the digestive system) and they are suitable for every day. This means that the product itself will not react with any drugs. However, it is still important to ask the advice of your doctor before taking Lepicol if you are on medication. |
